What statistics can you find in the country tables?

  1. Country Profiles: Data Profile Tables
    Cover the 208 countries and 18 country groups for basic indicators on: People, Environment, Economy, Technology and Infrastructure, Trade and Finance.

    TIP 1 –Definitions of each indicator are available by clicking on ‘Technical Notes’ in the descriptive text, or directly from the results table itself after a search, by clicking on its title.

    TIP 2 –To know what ‘country categories’ include, click on ‘Country Classification’ (e.g. Low income countries are countries with a Gross National Income per capita of 765$ or less); by clicking then on ‘Low income’ you access to the list of countries pertaining to this category.

    TIP 3 – You can also download the countries classification in excel format (‘World Bank list of economies as of July 2004).

  2. Key data on information and communications technologies by country: ICT at a Glance
    This provides information to access to internet, computers, mobile or fixed telephone lines by country.
  3. Key indicators tracing the trends in social and economic development from the last two decades: Country at a Glance Tables are included in a two-pages document with data such as trade, balance of payments, structure of the economy.
  4. Statistics on education: EdStats
    This provides specific statistics on education. Browse in details in the Thematic data part, in the Selected Group data, or in the Links to other sources data where specific stats from the World Bank can be retrieved: e.g. Educational attainment and enrollment, in the world, adult outreach education, Tertiary education, …
    In Education and Technology for example, you can access the ‘Query Database’ specifically adapted to education data and including more remote data than on the general ‘Data Query Database’. The search methode remains the same as in the ‘Data Query’.
  5. Statistics on gender, on health and population
    Gender Database (GenderStats); Health, Nutrition, and Population Statistics (HNPStats). The Data Query system has also been adapted to data on health, thus you can retrieve specific data with the same search methods.
  6. Data on Africa
    Click to access specific databases on Africa such as Live Database in Africa, Africa Development Indicators online.
