Through this database, you can select and download main indicators by country, by year, and by series. The database offers a 5-years, 54 indicators segment of the World Development Indicators database (WDI Online, available upon subscription).
What types of indicators can you retrieve?
AID per capita; CO2 Emissions; Annual deforestation; Exports and Imports of Goods & Services; Foreign Direct Investement; Gross Domestic Product; Gross National Income per capita; Life expectancy; Literacy rate; Debt; Trade, etc.
Basics on how to use the database
- First click on 'Select countries' at the top of the page. Highlight the country or countries and click on the 'Select' icon at the bottom of the page. The countries highlighted will appear in the 'Selected countries' box. Then click on 'Next' to access the series' menu.
- Repeat the same operation for the series and for the years.
- Once the data selected, click on 'View results' at top of the page.
More Tips
- To select more than one country or year or series, press on the Ctrl Key while highlighting the items.
- To export the obtained data into an Excel file, click on 'Save Data as Excel File', in the 'Data Export Options' box. Then follow the instructions.
- To read the definition and source of an indicator in the results table, click on its name; a window will pop up.
NB: The most recent data available usually dates back two years (e.g. in 2004, the most recent data is from 2002). However, some more recent data is sometimes available.
